Dom Martin is a Belfast-born Blues guitarist, singer and songwriter whose music draws on the rich traditions of Blues, roots and rock. Brought up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Dom has developed a distinctive sound built around his powerful guitar playing, expressive vocals and deeply personal approach to songwriting.
His acoustic performances are known for their raw, natural quality, combining intricate guitar work with an unmistakable Belfast Blues voice. His style has drawn comparisons with artists including John Martyn, Rory Gallagher, Van Morrison and Foy Vance, while his music reflects a broad range of Blues, folk and roots influences.
Dom has received numerous awards for his acoustic guitar work, including a European award in 2019 and UK Blues Awards recognition from 2020 onwards. He has also established himself as an accomplished electric guitarist, performing with his power trio and winning the UK Blues Awards Best Instrumentalist award in 2022, 2023 and 2025.
In late 2018, Dom was invited by Cerys Matthews to perform a live session on the BBC Radio 2 Blues Show, where she described his work as “absolutely wonderful stuff”. His debut album, Spain to Italy, followed in 2019 and quickly attracted attention within the Blues community.
His second studio album, A Savage Life, was released in April 2022 and further established Dom's reputation across the UK and European Blues and Blues Rock scene. In August 2023, Dom and his band performed on Joe Bonamassa's Keeping the Blues Alive Mediterranean Cruise III, gaining a new international audience along the way.
September 2023 saw the release of Buried In The Hail on Forty Below Records. The album received widespread critical acclaim, including being named Classic Rock Magazine's Blues Album of the Month, and reached number one in the IBBA charts. At the UK Blues Awards 2024, Buried In The Hail was voted Blues Album of the Year by IBBA DJs and presenters.
In late 2024, Dom released Buried Alive, a double live album on Forty Below Records featuring both full-band performances and acoustic duo recordings from his Buried In The Hail tour and UK Acoustic Tour.
By 2025, Dom was headlining festivals and performing sold-out shows across the UK and Europe, as well as appearing as a special guest for Robin Trower's UK tour. His third UK Blues Awards Best Instrumentalist win in 2025 further underlined his standing as one of the most distinctive guitarists working in contemporary Blues.
With his combination of powerful vocals, highly skilled guitar playing and a sound rooted in Blues, folk and rock, Dom Martin has become a prominent name on the UK and European Blues scene, equally at home with intimate acoustic performances and the energy of a full power trio.
