This explains what www.bluesireland.com collects, why, and what happens to it.

What we collect

As little as the site can work with:

• If you use the contact form: your name, your email and your message. It arrives as an email and stays there. Nothing is stored on the site and you're not added to any list.
• If you register a band or venue: your name, your email and whatever goes on the listing. This is stored, because it's what gets published and what lets you manage it.
• Automatically: what your browser sends when you visit, and whatever the cookies collect. The cookie policy covers that in detail.

What we use it for

• Publishing and maintaining the directory
• Replying when you write in
• Telling you about something to do with your listing
• Understanding how the site is used, so it can be improved

We don't sell your data, don't pass it to anyone for marketing, and don't send you advertising.

Who else sees it

Only the services the site needs to run, and only what they need:

• The web host, where the site and its database live.
• Google Analytics, which tells us which pages get visited. Their privacy policy covers what they do with it.

We may also hand over information if the law requires it, or if it's needed to protect the site or the people using it.

Where it's kept

On the host's servers. Some of the services above are based outside the EU and may process data elsewhere, under the safeguards the GDPR requires.

How long

Listings stay while they're published. Ask us to remove yours and we will.

Contact form messages sit in our email for as long as it takes to deal with them.

Your rights

You can ask at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Get in touch and we'll sort it.

If you think we've handled something badly, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.

Security

We do what's reasonable to keep your data safe, but no system is completely secure and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise.

If this policy changes, the date above will show when.
