What www.bluesireland.com stores in your browser, and why.

What a cookie is

A small file a website saves in your browser. It's how a site remembers things between one page and the next: that you're logged in, that you've dismissed a notice, that you've been here before.

Ours

• Session. Keeps you logged in while you're in the members area, and protects the forms. Nothing works without it.
• Preferences. Remembers small choices, like having closed a notice, so you're not asked twice.

These are needed for the site to function, so there's no switch here to turn them off - though your browser can block them.

Other people's

• Google Analytics. Tells us which pages get visited and roughly where from, so we know what's worth improving. It doesn't identify anyone. More about it.
• Ko-fi. The support button loads from their site, and they may set cookies if you use it.

Turning them off

Every browser can block or clear cookies from its settings. They all do it slightly differently, so searching their help for "cookies" is quickest.

Bear in mind that blocking everything means the members area stops working.
