Assembled by drummer Romek Parol (The Pirates, Chicken Shack, Eric Bell) and based in North-West Donegal, The Fortunate Few is a marriage of musicians with a wealth of experienced talent.
Alongside Romek, the band consists of Dave 'Much' Moore on keyboards, Billy Robinson (bass), and guitarist Mick McCarney, fronted by the exceptional, soulful vocals of Paul Cox.
Individually, The Fortunate Few have all forged solid careers and boast impressive CVs. Between them they've toured the world and either recorded with, played or shared stages with some of the greats including Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Bonnie Tyler, Bo Diddley, Sharon Shannon and ZZ Top.
Given their diverse careers their influences cover a wide range of styles from Celtic to Southern blues, to soul, a touch of jazz and a smattering of Americana. A rare blend of musical flavours.
Their first album Saints and Sinner was released in January 2026. They come to The Balor hot on the heels of the release of their second album Isn't That So - a heady mix of blues and soul, reworking tracks from The Isley Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, BB King and more.
