Spotlight Session: Dublin to Delta

Keeping the spirit of traditional blues alive: Dublin to Delta are a band built around a shared love for the music that started it all. Formed in 2025 by experienced musicians from the Dublin blues scene, they bring the sounds of the Mississippi Delta, the juke joints and the blues greats into their own live performances.
We're delighted to have Dublin to Delta join our Spotlight Sessions. Here they are, in their own words.
The Session
01 Every band has an origin story. What's yours? Bonus points if the name has a story behind it ⭐
We had all been playing in various bands over the years when Liam put up an add to form a blues band and after the usual shuffle of people we settled with the current lineup of 4. We wanted to capture the Chicago sound but also recognise the origins back in the Delta, so to honour everything from Charley Patton and Robert Johnson up to the Irish blues guys like Gary Moore and Don Baker we decided to go with the name Dublin to Delta.
02 If we dropped someone into one of your gigs, what should they expect?
You’d get four guy playing blues soaked guitars, dirty harmonica and a whole lot of old school blues.
03 Which artists have shaped your sound the most? Anyone people wouldn't expect?
Don Baker has been a huge inspiration for us, he has been a solid figure on the Dublin scene for decades. If you look to the old masters it has to be Howlin' Wolf, I mean Charley Patton though him guitar and Sonny Boy Williamson II thought him harp, he was a master of the blues.
04 There's always one gig that holds a special place. Tell us about yours.
Playing Whelans has to be special, it’s always been host to such amazing bands as well as up and coming bands. It’s a cornerstone of Dublin music.
05 Living or dead, who'd you share a stage with, and why?
Howlin' Wolf, to us he is Chicago Blues.
06 What's gone wrong at a gig that you can laugh about now?
Not to name the venue but there was a gig where the toilets leaked onto the stage and we tried to get everything off the ground while playing and watch where we stood, lots of disinfectant wipes used after that gig.
07 What's coming up next? Gigs, new music, big plans — tell us everything!
We have just released our EP “Live at Tsunami” so hopefully everyone will check that out and we’re already planning for a busy 2027 with the Blues Festivals and a second EP.
