Canadian blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter Anthony Gomes brings his powerful live show to The Academy in Dublin on Friday 22 January 2027.

Known for his energetic guitar playing and a sound that sits between blues, blues rock and classic rock, Gomes has built an international following through years of touring and recording. His music draws on a wide range of influences, from blues legends such as Muddy Waters and B.B. King to rock guitarists including Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen.

Born and raised in Toronto, Gomes picked up the guitar at the age of 14 and began developing his own style through a mix of blues and rock. His career took a major step forward when he caught the attention of B.B. King, who invited him to open several shows on tour in 2005. Since then, Gomes has shared stages with artists including Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Joe Bonamassa, Heart, Sammy Hagar and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

His 2022 album High Voltage Blues reached No. 1 on the Billboard Blues chart and remained on the chart for 58 consecutive weeks. His latest release, Praise the Loud, continues his blues rock approach with 12 original tracks that combine heavier guitar-driven rock with a soulful blues feel.

With a reputation for loud, energetic performances and plenty of guitar, Anthony Gomes brings his blend of modern blues and rock to Dublin for this live blues rock show at The Academy.
